Adult or child, we understand that not everyone feels relaxed when visiting the dentist. So here at St Piran Dental we firmly believe that you are the most important person in the dental relationship and do our absolute best to make you feel comfortable, including the use of stress balls and patient comfort devices.

DentalPhobia CertifiedOur lead dentist Chris has been seeing phobic patients for over 15 years and was one of the first dentists in Cornwall to accept referrals from patients and dentists for this type of treatment. he is a long standing dental phobia certified dentist.

"I don't remember a thing. This is a real benefit to people like me who are anxious about dental treatment. I would definitely do it again!"
- RD, Penzance

We are experienced in looking after all of our anxious patients and will put you at ease so that you can relax and remain seated for the duration of your appointment. There are a number of ways that we can make the experience more comfortable should you require it, such as conscious sedation or general anaesthesia:

  • Conscious sedation. As the name suggests this form of sedation does require you to remain conscious, but you will feel relaxed or sleepy and remember very little if anything of your treatment. This can be achieved by administering oral medicines or gentle injections.
  • General anaesthesia may also be available for more severe cases. In these circumstances we are able to refer you to hospital for specialist care.

If you are a particularly nervous patient and you believe sedation may be necessary for any dental work, all you need to do is let us know when you make your appointment. Our helpful team will discuss various sedation options with you so that you can choose the most suitable option for you. In fact our sedation dentist is a member and mentor of the Society for the Advancement of Anaesthesia in Dentistry, and the Dental Sedation Teachers Group.
